Sarah with John Christensen and Martin Hawes, trustees of the Sumner Ferrymead Foundation. Sarah was sponsored by Viki Brinkman, who was unable to attend the awards evening.
I am studying a Bachelor of Primary Teaching through Te Rito Maiaho. It is done through field-based days in a classroom at Mt Pleasant School and online.
In five years timeĀ I would like to be employed as a teacher at one of our schools in our Aupaki, the local catchment area (I hope the principals are reading this!).
In my down time I enjoy gardening, walking and spending time with family and friends.
The thing I love most about living in the Sumner Ferrymead community is the people. People take the time to share, help each other and connect with each other. As a dog owner, I love walking the dog and meeting interesting people and their dogs on each walk. The Sumner Ferrymead Foundation reflects this great sense of community.
I am grateful to the Brinkman family for the financial support which allows me to focus on my study rather than on financial pressures. And when my study ends and it is time to look for a job, the recognition that the scholarship gives will also make me stand out from other job applicants.
